A City Full of Pride.

PRIDE IN LIVERPOOL LOOKS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR

From marching jointly with Kyiv Pride to community-focused zones across the city centre we’re focusing on the roots of Pride and why we still need to protest.

This year, Pride in Liverpool will see five zones across the city centre full of activity, community performances and local organisations. This will be complimented by lots of fringe events from local businesses as well as of course activity throughout the city’s Pride Quarter.

LCR Pride FAQs

This year, Pride in Liverpool is taking place across multiple sites in Liverpool City Centre. We’ve focused our programming on elements that the community told us they valued most at Pride – from family-friendly spaces, community performances and wellbeing activity. There are a number of zones across the Waterfront as well as pop up activity at Liverpool ONE, Royal Albert Dock and St Johns Shopping Centre.

We have four zones for pride-goers to enjoy as well as pop up activity across the city centre and lots of fringe events.

Yes! We are proudly free and open to everyone to attend. All of the zones and pop-up entertainment are free to access and we have worked hard to ensure there are vendors to suit all budgets.

No, There’s no main stage this year for Pride in Liverpool. The infrastructure alone for a main stage and safety measures that need to be in place costs over £60,000 to put in place. This year we’ve focused on creating community performance spaces across the whole city. We’ve also launched a Crowdfunder towards a main stage for Pride 2024 and you can find that here:

https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/a-main-stage-for-pride-in-liverpool-2024#start

Pop up performances will be taking place across Liverpool ONE (Sugar House Steps), Royal Albert Dock (by the Pumphouse) and throughout the St Johns Shopping Centre. Keep an eye on our social media for more to be announced and the performers you can expect to see!
Festival Zones are to the public from 12noon on Saturday 29th July (the same time our march leaves St Georges Hall). The busiest period for entry will be is between 12:45hrs and 14:00hrs when the march arrives at the site. Entertainment is programmed from 2pm. Pride Zone activity will end at 6pm – but events across the city and Pride Quarter will go on until late!
Pride in Liverpool always starts with our annual ‘March with Pride’, where we take to the streets in protest, celebration and solidarity. This will muster at St Georges Hall from 10:30am and begin to move through the city from 12 noon. There are a number of road closures from 11am that you will need to be aware of and may cause delays.
Our event takes place on the city’s streets and pedestrian access is maintained at all times. In order to deliver a safe event the festival site is fenced and all attendees may be subject to bag searches – we do not permit alcohol purchased outside, opened soft drinks (unless required for medical or children), illegal drugs or legal highs or items that may cause a risk such as smoke flares, fireworks or weapons of any kind. Please note: If you have prescription or over-the-counter drugs for medical purposes, these are permitted. Please see ‘Accessibility’ below.
Yes! All businesses around our event sites are open as normal. You can get to Matou Restaurant and the Ferry Terminal around the outside of the site. The Beatles Story Fab 4 Cafe and Shop.
We have communicated with all residents and businesses around the event site with further information. Our dedicated resident/business liaisons will also support on the day to ensure we don’t cause any unnecessary inconvenience and everyone can take part.
We are working with local organisations to make our event as accessible as we possibly can. Our event site is the world famous Pier Head – which is on a totally flat surface. Drugs which are for medical purposes (prescribed or over-the-counter), these are permitted in the site, but we advise that these should be in their original packaging (with your name if prescribed) to avoid any issues identifying these.
